WHO WE ARE
Fibre Economy is a social enterprise working towards a world without textile waste. We care about our planet and recognise the great need for a shift towards circular systems across all industries, capturing the untapped value in discarded resources.
As one of the first start-ups in Western Australia to address the issue of textile waste, we work with organisations that employ those at-risk to give unwanted workwear a second life. Our mission is to redistribute workwear through our circular network to decrease its environmental footprint, and reduce barriers to employment by connecting workwear to people in need.
What started as a conversation between friends back in 2019 about excess workwear in the mining industry, has grown to the social enterprise we are today.
WHAT WE DO
‘Second Life Workwear’ is Fibre Economy’s flagship Workwear Waste Management Service that empowers companies using high vis in their operations to create positive social and environmental impact.
Our service is designed to help your company keep unwanted workwear out of landfill by connecting it to people in the community who extend the life of workwear through reuse, transformation and innovation.
We work with your company to establish a collection system where employees can discard their unwanted uniforms responsibly.
Workwear is collected by Fibre Economy and transported to our Social Enterprise Partner, Good Sammy.
Good Sammy employees sort, clean, debrand and dismantle the workwear, ready to be redistributed.
Workwear is redistributed to charity partners and upcycling/recycling partners, turned into new products or resold.
Who We Support
We believe that clothing should never be a barrier to employment for anyone.
That’s why we collect workwear that would have once been considered textile waste and connect it to our wonderful charity partners that run training and employment programs.
